The Greenville High School Lion Pride Band achieved a triumphant victory, securing a Superior rating in the recent UIL competition held on October 18. This success reflects the unwavering commitment and exceptional dedication of the band's talented students to attain musical excellence.
Dr. Matt Ownby, the GISD Director of Bands, praised the band's relentless effort and dedication, acknowledging their outstanding performance.
"Our band students have been very dedicated to the success of our program from day one throughout the course of our marching band season,” Ownby stated. “I'm incredibly proud of how hard they've worked, and they've already exceeded the expectations for improvement that we set for this fall. We have many more opportunities to show off our band program this year, and we are looking forward to working towards continued success.”
The Lion Pride Band is now preparing for their next challenge at the AREA competition scheduled for Saturday, October 28. The upcoming event provides another opportunity for the Lion Pride Band to showcase their musical talents.
As they continue to march forward with pride and determination, the Lion Pride Band remains dedicated to representing their school, community and GISD with the highest level of musical excellence.
