Greenville Independent School District (GISD) is celebrating the outstanding achievements of four of its students who have earned national recognition for their exceptional academic performances.
Leading the pack is Michael Adeluyi, a Senior at Greenville High School (GHS), who has earned the prestigious title of National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist. Michael's educational journey in GISD began in Pre-K at L.P. Waters, and he later attended Crockett Elementary. During his high school years, his passion for robotics led him to immerse himself in VEX Robotics and become an integral part of the Robwranglers Robotics team. These experiences ignited a fiery passion for math and engineering within him. Michael expressed his gratitude, saying, "I appreciate the support that GISD has given me over the years and the opportunities I've had to be involved in things like robotics. My extracurricular experiences provided by GISD has fostered a love of math and engineering." As a National Merit semi-finalist, Michael Adeluyi finds himself in the exclusive company of less than 1 percent of the nation's top high school seniors.
But Michael is not the only shining star at Greenville High School. Joining him in the limelight are three remarkable students who have also garnered national recognition for their stellar PSAT scores.
Angel Torres Castillo has been honored with the National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar (NHRP) award, recognizing his outstanding performance and ranking among the top 2.5% among Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test-takers in the region.
Mary Thurmond and Nadenka Hallonquist have both earned the title of National Rural and Small-Town Recognition Scholar (NRSTA). This prestigious accolade acknowledges their exceptional PSAT scores and their unwavering commitment to academic excellence and their respective communities.
