On September 15, 2023, at approximately 11:30 am, Rockwall High School implemented a "Hold" protocol, followed by a "Secure" protocol. This action came in response to school administrators and school resource officers responding to reports of a potential threat directed at the school. Promptly, law enforcement officers commenced investigations into these reports, leading to the apprehension of the alleged individual responsible in a nearby jurisdiction.
In the aftermath of the incident, a photograph began circulating, depicting a rifle propped against a police vehicle. The accompanying caption falsely claimed that this weapon belonged to the arrested suspect, who had purportedly been discovered near the school premises with the firearm. It is crucial to clarify that this assertion is entirely baseless. The initial inquiry uncovered no supporting evidence to suggest that the person responsible for the threats had any connection to the school's vicinity, nor did the arrested individual possess a weapon at the time of their apprehension. The decision to initiate the "Hold" and "Secure" protocols was made solely as a precautionary measure.
The Rockwall Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into this incident.
