Coach Randy Jackson, a renowned Texas high school football coach with deep ties to Greenville, has been appointed as the Interim Athletic Director for Greenville ISD. With an impressive 31-year career in education, including 21 years as a head coach, Coach Jackson brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.
Having served as an assistant coach for the Lions from 1992 to 1995, Coach Jackson is no stranger to the Greenville community. His coaching journey has taken him to various schools, including North Forney High School, Lone Oak, Mesquite Poteet, Plano East, and Grapevine, where he has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership on and off the field. Over the years, his high school coaching record stands at an impressive 172-75.
Throughout his illustrious career, Coach Jackson has received numerous accolades for his dedication and impact on the lives of student-athletes. Among his prestigious awards are the DFW Tom Landry Award, the Texas High School Coaches Association Beyond the Game Award, and the 4A Texas Sports Writers Coach of the Year. Notably, he has also contributed to education by teaching social studies composition.
After retiring from North Forney in 2021, Coach Jackson embraced an international coaching opportunity, serving as the Offensive Coordinator for the Potsdam Royals in the German Football League. Under his guidance, the team reached great heights, culminating in an appearance at the German Bowl.
Superintendent Sharon Boothe expressed her enthusiasm about Coach Jackson's appointment, highlighting his emphasis on building a strong culture centered on teamwork and leadership among student-athletes. She noted that he had even penned a book on the subject titled "Culture Defeats Strategy: Seven Lessons on Leadership from a Texas High School Football Coach." Coach Jackson wasted no time in getting involved in his new position, stating that he is eager to meet with coaches and players on Thursday, August 3. He expressed his excitement and honor in becoming a part of the Lion family, emphasizing his dedication to drive all sports to success in the upcoming fall season.
