Left-handed pitcher Taylor Lynn Hearn, a native of Royse City, Texas, is headed to the Atlanta Braves after being designated for assignment by the Texas Rangers on July 19. Hearn was traded in exchange for cash considerations.
The 28-year-old southpaw had a mixed tenure with the Rangers, with moments of brilliance interspersed with challenges since being acquired in 2019. Over the course of his stay with the Rangers, which encompassed 92 appearances, including 25 starts, Hearn maintained a 5.11 Earned Run Average (ERA). While he showcased flashes of potential, he struggled to find consistent form during his time with the team.
Hearn's journey to the majors began in his hometown of Royse City, Texas, where he attended Royse City High School and honed his baseball skills. Graduating in 2012, he impressed scouts with his raw talent and was eventually drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 2015 MLB Draft.
Hearn will now get a fresh start with an Atlanta club that has a lead of 11.5 games in their division.
