Two individuals, Teresa Johnson, 58, of Woodville, and Phillip Winkle, 55, of Spurger, have been arrested and charged with State Jail Felony Theft of catalytic converters in Jasper County.
On April 23, 2025, around 5:30 p.m., Jasper County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a theft in progress in the Roganville area. A witness was reportedly following the suspect vehicle, which had just stolen two catalytic converters.
Kirbyville Police Department officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Highway 96 south, near the Kirbyville city limits. Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Chris Wade and Deputy Noel arrived and conducted an investigation.
Both Johnson and Winkle were read their Miranda Rights and allegedly admitted to taking the catalytic converters, which were found in their possession along with the tools used to remove them. Authorities determined the catalytic converters were stolen from a 1993 Ford F150 in the 100 block of Private Road 8040 in Jasper.
Both suspects were booked into the Jasper County Jail. Sheriff Chuck Havard and his staff affirmed their commitment to combating criminal activity in the county.
