A Longview doctor who recently pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child was found dead on Tuesday, April 22nd. Matt Elza Hipke, 62, had entered his guilty plea earlier this month, on April 2nd.
According to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, investigators found Hipke’s body in the Bella Terra subdivision in north Longview. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and an autopsy has been ordered. The sheriff’s office did not release information regarding the cause of death but stated there is no danger to the public.
Hipke had been facing numerous charges related to child sex abuse dating back to 2017, including continuous sexual abuse of a child, aggravated sexual assault of a child, and indecency with a child. His sentencing on the aggravated sexual assault charge was scheduled for Friday.
