Governor Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that the City of Paris has been officially designated as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Film Commission. This certification comes after the city completed a multi-step training and certification process.
“Congratulations to the City of Paris on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 175 other Texas communities that have received this recognition,” said Governor Abbott. He noted that the program prepares communities to connect local businesses with production needs, creating jobs and boosting local spending.
Representative Gary VanDeaver stated, “We’re proud to have Paris recognized as a Film Friendly Texas Community. This town has a lot of character, and we’re excited to share that with filmmakers looking for a place that feels both unique and inviting.”
Mayor Mihir Pankaj highlighted the city’s various landmarks as ideal filming locations, including the historic downtown and the Eiffel Tower with a cowboy hat. City Manager Rose Beverly added, “Becoming a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community is a proud milestone for the City of Paris. This designation reflects our community’s welcoming spirit and commitment to supporting the creative industries. We’re excited to share the unique charm of Paris, Texas, with the film and media world and look forward to the opportunities this recognition brings.”
The Film Friendly Texas program, run by the Texas Film Commission, provides ongoing training and guidance to certified communities on media industry standards and how to accommodate on-location filming. The Texas Film Commission has reportedly attracted over $2.5 billion in local spending and created more than 189,000 production jobs across Texas between 2007 and 2024.
