A Longview man has been arrested and charged with murder following a fatal shooting on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Police officers responded to the 900 block of Toler Road at approximately 2:47 PM and found a male victim who was pronounced dead at the scene by a Gregg County Justice of the Peace. The suspect had fled the area before officers arrived.
Following an investigation, police identified 26-year-old Dalton Chandler Lawrence as the suspect. Lawrence was later apprehended and charged with Murder (First Degree). He also had two outstanding warrants from Wood County.
The victim has been identified as Jonathan Ragland. This is the first homicide in Longview this year.
