The Athens Police Department (APD) has made significant progress in the investigation of a shooting that occurred on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in the 200 block of South Palestine Street.
At approximately 2:20 a.m., five adult suspects in a white four-door sedan approached three juveniles and allegedly pointed firearms at them before firing several rounds. A 15-year-old male juvenile was struck and treated at a local hospital before being released.
On Friday, April 11, 2025, detectives from the Athens Police Department, working with the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office and Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, executed three arrest warrants for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The bond for each of the arrested suspects was set at $1.5 million. Additionally, the vehicle believed to have been used in the offense was seized as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have also identified two other suspects in the case.
The Athens Police Department stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing. They expressed their gratitude to the victims, witnesses, business owners, and families for their cooperation and support in the investigation of this crime.
