Seven individuals, including six correctional officers at the Barry B. Telford Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), have been arrested in connection with an alleged conspiracy to introduce contraband into the prison.
On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, law enforcement officers served seven felony arrest warrants following an ongoing investigation by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice, with assistance from state, local, and federal agencies.
The following TDCJ correctional officers were arrested on warrants for Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity: Mondraesha Quanee Davis, Joshua Demond David Johnson, Alexis Michelle Gregory, and Catherine Rene Davis. Correctional Captain Jessica Nichole Ricks and Correctional Sergeant Kimberly Renee Edwards also face the same charge.
Correctional Officer Brittanee Wade faces additional felony charges, including Bribery, Prohibited Item/Substance in a Correctional Facility, and Possession of Marijuana.
In addition to the arrests, seven search warrants were executed at private residences.
Texas Board of Criminal Justice Chairman Eric Nichols emphasized the agency's zero tolerance for corruption, while OIG Inspector General Lance Coleman commended the extensive work of investigators and partner agencies. TDCJ Executive Director Bryan Collier reiterated the department's commitment to maintaining facility safety and security by holding accountable those who introduce contraband.
