A multi-agency search in Hunt County led to the arrest of 31-year-old Haden Brice Adams on April 3rd, following an attempted robbery at Reames Market on Highway 34 South in Greenville the previous day.
On April 2nd, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the store. Upon entering, a deputy encountered Adams attempting to flee. A physical altercation ensued, during which Adams allegedly assaulted the deputy, causing an injury.
Adams then escaped in a white van, which was later found abandoned and confirmed to be stolen from Greenville.
A large-scale search involving the Hunt County Constable’s Office, Greenville Police Department, Texas DPS, a Texas Department of Corrections K-9 Unit, a DPS helicopter, and a civilian helicopter was launched. Despite an extensive perimeter search throughout the night, Adams initially evaded capture.
Authorities identified Adams as a registered sex offender with an active parole violation warrant and believed to be connected to additional offenses in Hunt County.
Following numerous tips from the public, Adams was located and arrested without incident at the Express Inn & Suites on Interstate 30 Service Road in Greenville around 3:30 p.m. on April 3rd.
During his arrest, authorities discovered methamphetamines and two firearms in Adams’ possession.
Adams was booked into the Hunt County Jail and faces the following charges:
- Parole Violation
- Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (between 4g and 200g)
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
- Resisting Arrest, Search or Transport
- Aggravated Robbery
- Assault on a Peace Officer
His bond has been set at $555,000. Authorities noted Adams' prior convictions, including a 2-year sentence for Fraud in 2017 and 10 months in state jail for vehicle theft in 2016. In addition, he was convincted in August of 2021 for Sexual Assault of a Child. The victim in that case was a 14-year-old female.
The deputy injured during the initial encounter was treated at a local hospital and has since been released.
