Guatemalan National in Port Arthur Pleads Guilty to Immigration Violations

A 24-year-old Guatemalan national has pleaded guilty to unlawfully reentering the United States after deportation, Acting U.S. Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr. announced.

Wilmer Armando Xitumul-Godinez pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry by a previously deported alien before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn on March 31, 2025.

According to court records, Xitumul-Godinez was deported in September 2024 and was arrested in Port Arthur the following month.

He faces up to two years in federal prison at sentencing. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled following the completion of a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations.

The investigation was conducted by the Department of Homeland Security and the Port Arthur Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Tommy L. Coleman with cooperation from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
