Texarkana Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault After Hit-and-Run Leaves Victim Critically Injured

Patrick Cridell, Jr

A man was arrested Monday in connection with a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian critically injured near Highland Park Elementary.

Patrick Cridell, Jr., 32, was taken into custody by the Texarkana Police Department and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from multiple cameras and determined that around 6:00 p.m. Sunday, a silver Kia left the roadway, accelerated, and struck the victim as he walked through a church parking lot in the 300 block of W. 25th Street. The victim was not discovered until early Monday morning when a Highland Park Elementary employee found him lying near the school doors. Despite suffering severe injuries, he had managed to drag himself across the street from the site of the collision.

Later that morning, Detective Thomas Shaddix canvassed the area and located a heavily damaged silver Kia parked at Cridell’s residence, just four blocks from the scene. Investigators identified Cridell as the driver, and he was booked into the Bi-State Jail.

The victim remains in critical condition in the ICU at Christus St. Michael Hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
