A burglary investigation in Commerce, Texas, led to the recovery of thousands of dollars in stolen property and the identification of a suspect, Edward Wayne Garcia, who remains at large.
On March 24, 2025, at 9:30 AM, the Commerce Police Department responded to a report of burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Fourth Street. Officers gathered details from the victim and searched the area for evidence.
At 2:08 AM on March 25, officers handling an unrelated call in the 2200 block of Live Oak Street noticed items matching the description of the stolen property from the previous burglary. Further investigation confirmed the items were stolen. Officers also learned that the stolen vehicle was still in the area, and with assistance from East Texas A&M Police, the vehicle was located and recovered.
At 4:08 AM, officers spotted a suspect matching the description of the burglary suspect near Tractor Supply, but he fled before officers could detain him.
The Commerce Police Criminal Investigation Division later obtained three arrest warrants for Edward Wayne Garcia on charges of Burglary of a Building, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Burglary of a Motor Vehicle. Garcia is also wanted in Hopkins County for Theft of Property.
