A wrong-way driver crashed into a Delta County patrol vehicle early Friday morning after deputies were dispatched to stop the vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes of Highway 24.
Shortly after 2 a.m. on February 28, 2025, deputies responded to reports of a wrong-way driver heading south from Lamar County. The vehicle continued into the Klondike area, where a Delta County Deputy attempted to stop it near Highway 24 and FM 1528. The driver collided with the patrol vehicle before traveling another 30 feet and coming to a stop.
The driver was transported by ambulance to a Sulphur Springs hospital for an unrelated medical issue. The deputy was checked at a Commerce hospital as a precaution and has since been released. A passenger in the wrong-way vehicle was not injured.
Authorities have not released further details as the investigation continues.
