On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at approximately 3:06 a.m., Lamar County deputies were dispatched to a residence on FM 905 following a report of a motor vehicle burglary. The caller informed dispatch that they had interrupted a suspect attempting to break into their vehicles.
While en route to this call, deputies received another report of a gunshot wound in connection with a separate motor vehicle burglary at another residence on FM 905. Upon arrival, the homeowner explained that he heard noises outside and went to investigate, only to be confronted by a suspect breaking into his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway. The homeowner confronted the suspect, who shot him before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.
The homeowner sustained a gunshot wound, and the suspect remains at large. This case is still under investigation by the Lamar County Sheriff's Office.
