On Sunday, March 16, Hopkins County deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in Sulphur Springs where they found a woman with injuries to her face and arms following a physical altercation.
The suspect, identified as 60-year-old Anita Cornelia Martin, was accused of assaulting her daughter during an argument. Deputies observed visible injuries on the victim, including a busted lip, facial scratches, and bruising on her arms.
A witness at the scene identified Martin as the primary aggressor. The victim’s grandmother, who was also present, confirmed the victim's account. Martin claimed her daughter had pushed her against a vehicle, but deputies determined Martin was responsible for the altercation based on the evidence and witness statements.
Martin was arrested and booked into the Hopkins County Jail on a charge of Assault Family Violence. Her bond was set at $2,000.
