A 34-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning in Marshall.
On March 15, 2025, just after 3 a.m., the Marshall Emergency Telecommunications Center received a 911 call reporting a female who had been run over near the intersection of University Avenue and Wiley Avenue.
Officers arrived to find a 2018 Dodge Charger on the curb with a female partially underneath the vehicle. The driver, identified as Brandon Carey, was detained at the scene.
According to investigators, Carey and the woman had been involved in an altercation earlier at a party on Holland Street. A witness reported seeing Carey hit the female before they left together in the Dodge Charger. After stopping near the University Avenue and Wiley Avenue intersection, the situation escalated, resulting in the woman being struck by the vehicle.
The victim was transported to a local medical center for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Carey was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Abandoning and Endangering a Child, after leaving three children home alone to pick up the female. He was booked into the Harrison County Jail, where he remains.
The investigation is ongoing.
