Paris Man Arrested on Multiple Charges After Drug Bust

Montrell Lawun Black, 30, was arrested on multiple charges Sunday after Paris Police Officers located him in a vehicle with narcotics, cash, and paraphernalia during a routine stop.

On March 9, 2025, officers received information that Black had outstanding warrants and was in the 300 block of Stone Avenue. Upon arriving at the location, officers observed Black in the vehicle described by informants. Shortly after, Black left the property and was stopped by officers in the 800 block of Deshong Drive. During the stop, Black initially misidentified himself, leading to his detention for Failure to Identify.

Officers smelled marijuana inside the vehicle, and despite Black’s claims that he had no narcotics, he later identified himself as the individual wanted on several warrants. Black was found to have an outstanding Parole Warrant for Family Violence, Interfering with Emergency Phone Call, and Assault Causing Bodily Injury.

A search of Black’s person uncovered cash in a plastic bag, and an inventory search of the vehicle revealed Cocaine, Marijuana, and paraphernalia, indicating Black was packaging the narcotics for resale. He was charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana Over Four Ounces, and additional charges for committing the offenses in a Drug-Free Zone.

Black was arrested and transported to Lamar County Jail, where he remains in custody.
