Fire Erupts at New High School Construction Site in Prosper, One Firefighter Injured

Early Saturday morning, multiple Prosper Fire Rescue units responded to a structure fire at the new Richland High School campus, located at 3450 Prairie Drive.

At approximately 2:32 a.m. on March 8, 2025, Battalion 1, Engine 1, Engine 11, Medic 1, Engine 3, Medic 2, and Quint 2 arrived on scene, with assistance from Frisco Fire Department. Battalion 1 reported heavy fire showing from the roof of the two-story structure and declared a working fire.

During the incident, one firefighter sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. He has since been released.

Prosper ISD addressed the fire in an email to parents, stating, “Although the damage appears to be contained to the exterior of the building, we are working closely with fire officials to assess the damage to the construction site.”

The high school, currently under construction, was set to open in August 2025. Officials have not yet determined if the fire will delay construction. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
