On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, just before 6:00 p.m., College Station police officers from the CSTEP unit and patrol responded to a notification from the Plano Police Department regarding a wanted husband and wife suspected of targeting Walgreens and other businesses across Texas and multiple states.
Officers located the suspects at the Walgreens on William D. Fitch Parkway. The couple was detained, and a search revealed both had active warrants. A joint investigation with Walgreens Asset Protection, Plano Police, and other agencies led to the recovery of 882 stolen items from Walgreens stores alone, valued at nearly $10,000.
Maria Stoican was found to have seven active warrants, including charges for theft from police departments in Burleson, Euless, Grapevine, and Harris County, Texas, as well as out-of-state warrants from Rockford, Illinois; Sacramento County, California; and Will County, Illinois. She also faces a local charge of Failure to Identify – Fugitive.
Emmanuel Stoican was wanted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for theft and is now also facing charges for Possession of Marijuana.
The Stoicans had their two young children, an infant and a 2-year-old, with them during the incidents. Child Protective Services was contacted, and the children have been placed in protective custody.
