Dairy Queen announced that 24 of its Texas restaurants will close effective February 28, 2025. A company spokesperson confirmed that all of the affected restaurants are owned by the same franchisee, who will continue operating other Dairy Queen locations in the state. The spokesperson declined to provide details on the reasons behind the closures but noted the franchisee’s decision to participate in an online auction for 24 of the 25 locations.

“The franchise owner continues to own and operate other DQ restaurants in Texas,” the spokesperson said, adding, “It was this franchise owner’s decision to participate in an online auction for 24 of the 25 locations. These closures are an isolated event and we refrain from publicly sharing contract terms.”
Despite the closures, Texas remains home to the highest number of Dairy Queen restaurants in the country.
