On Monday, February 3, 2025, Harrison County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call reporting a white male attempting to break into a residence at 2587 Pine Island Rd in Karnack, TX. The complainant indicated the male had entered the home and was armed with a gun.
Deputies quickly responded, and while en route, the complainant confirmed all individuals inside the home had escaped safely to a neighboring property. Upon arrival, deputies found the male on the front porch, armed with a firearm. The suspect pointed the weapon toward the deputies, who responded by firing their service weapons, striking the individual.
Deputies provided medical aid until first responders arrived, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Texas Department of Public Safety's Ranger Division is conducting an independent investigation, as required by protocol for incidents involving the use of lethal force.
On February 18, 2025, Kevin Grogan, 32, was arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant in connection with the February 3 incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
