Prosper Police Arrest Two Suspects in Retail Theft Investigation

On January 26, 2025, a Prosper police officer conducting foot patrol inside a local retailer was alerted by a loss prevention officer about a known theft suspect inside the store. The officer relayed this information to other officers and monitored the suspect from the store’s security cameras, identifying their vehicle and a possible accomplice.

Additional Prosper officers arrived and positioned themselves around the business. The suspect purchased a small item but left the store with over $1,000 in stolen merchandise. Officers quickly detained the suspect as they reached their vehicle and located the accomplice inside the store, escorting them outside.

During the investigation, officers recovered the stolen property and found additional stolen merchandise from another retailer inside the suspect’s vehicle. The accomplice attempted to ignore officers and walk away during detention. Upon arrest, the accomplice was found in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine.

One suspect was charged with Theft of Property >$750<$2,500 and Unlawful Use of a Criminal Instrument. The accomplice was charged with Interfering with Public Duties and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1/1-B <1g. Both were transported to the county jail.

Further investigation linked one suspect to an additional theft in Prosper and three more thefts from the same retailer in other cities.
