On February 17, 2025, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Longview Police officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Sidney Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Longview Fire Department personnel transported her to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived.
Following an investigation, authorities identified 59-year-old Richard Lynn Williams as the suspect. Williams was later arrested and charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon with Felony Convictions, Possession of a Controlled Substance (PG 1/1-B, <1G), and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Felony 2). For the assault, his bond was set at $200,000.
