Gun Barrel City Police Department officers responded to a report of an armed man threatening to open fire inside the Walmart at 1200 W Main Street in Gun Barrel City, Texas, on February 15, 2025, at approximately 6:33 p.m.
Officers located and identified the suspect as 22-year-old John Thomas Martin of Kerrville, Texas. Martin was found in possession of a Glock 10mm semi-automatic handgun, three magazines, including one extended magazine, totaling 63 rounds of ammunition, shooting earplugs, and was wearing a ballistic vest under his hoodie.
Martin was arrested and charged with Terroristic Threat – a third-degree felony – and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon – a Class A misdemeanor. His bond has been set at $125,000.
