Crockett Man Indicted for Capital Murder in May 2024 Homicide

Robert Lee Stevenson

A 64-year-old Crockett man has been formally charged with Capital Murder in connection with the death of a 78-year-old man last year.

Robert Lee Stevenson was indicted by a Houston County Grand Jury on February 14, 2025, for the May 2024 killing of Herbert “Andy” Allen.

Allen was found deceased inside his home on Monroe Street in Crockett after a relative called 911. Officers responded to the scene and noted suspicious circumstances. A justice of the peace ordered an autopsy, and the preliminary report determined Allen’s death to be a homicide.

Stevenson has been in custody at the Houston County Jail since June 5, 2024, on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and a parole hold. His bond for the Capital Murder charge has been set at $250,000.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding the case due to its sensitive nature.
