The City of Commerce has announced that Corley Weatherford has been selected as the next Police Chief for the Commerce Police Department following a nationwide recruitment process.
The selection process drew 38 applicants from eight states, with eight semi-finalists and three finalists chosen. Each finalist participated in a two-day interview process before Weatherford was selected for the role.
Weatherford joins Commerce PD from the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office, where he has served as Criminal Investigations Commander since 2017. His experience includes work with the FBI Task Force for Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation and the U.S. Secret Service in digital and computer forensics.
Weatherford has a proven track record of successful investigations and strong partnerships with local and federal prosecutors. His leadership is expected to be a valuable addition to the Commerce Police Department and the community.
