A Paris Police officer arrested a man Thursday night, February 6, after a traffic stop revealed he was riding a stolen motorcycle.
At 10:37 p.m., an officer on patrol in the 500 block of Tudor Street observed a motorcycle operating without lights. When the officer attempted to make contact, the rider accelerated and committed multiple traffic violations. The rider briefly turned the lights on before shutting them off again in an apparent attempt to evade capture but eventually stopped in the 500 block of 2nd NE.
The officer arrested Travion DeMarcus Johnson, 19, of Paris, who claimed ownership of the motorcycle and stated he was "just riding around." However, the motorcycle had no visible license plate. A VIN check revealed that the bike had been reported stolen in September 2024 from Hunt County.
Johnson was unable or unwilling to provide credible information about how he obtained the motorcycle. He was taken into custody, and the case remains under investigation.
