Texarkana police are searching for 27-year-old Dantray Copeland following a shooting that left two people injured at an apartment complex on Richmond Road Saturday night.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Richmond Road just after 8:30 p.m. on February 8 after reports of a shooting. Investigators determined that a dispute between neighbors escalated when one man pulled out a gun and fired at the ground. The bullet ricocheted, striking two individuals. Following the shooting, the suspect and another man assaulted one of the victims before fleeing the scene.
Police located and arrested Morgan Lanham inside an apartment at the complex on an Assault charge. However, Copeland remains at large. Detectives believe he left the area in a vehicle and are working on warrants to charge him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Both victims were transported to the hospital by LifeNet with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities urge anyone with information on Copeland’s whereabouts to contact Texarkana Police at (903) 798-3876 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at (903) 793-STOP. Tips can remain anonymous.
