On Monday, February 3, 2025, at approximately 7:12 p.m., the Harrison County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding an individual attempting to enter a residence at 2587 Pine Island Rd. in Karnack, Texas. The caller reported that a white male was attempting to gain entry while law enforcement dispatchers could hear a man yelling in the background.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene, and while en route, the complainant informed dispatch that the suspect had successfully entered the home and was armed with a gun. The occupants were able to escape safely to a neighboring property before deputies arrived.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered the armed suspect on the front porch. The individual then pointed a firearm in their direction, prompting deputies to discharge their service weapons, striking him. Deputies immediately provided medical aid until first responders arrived. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
As per standard protocol for officer-involved shootings, Sheriff Fletcher has requested the Texas Department of Public Safety's Ranger Division to conduct an independent investigation. The case remains under active investigation.
