On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, Kaufman County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on U.S. Highway 175, leading to a police chase. The pursuit ended near the 1400 block of Highway 175 in Crandall, where the suspect fled on foot and fired shots at deputies.
Deputies returned fire, striking the suspect. Paramedics transported the suspect to a Dallas hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
No deputies were injured. The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation, which remains ongoing.
