Harrison County Task Force Raids Home, Arrests Man on Crack-Cocaine Charges

On February 4, 2024, the Joint Harrison County Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force, along with the Harrison County Emergency Response Team and the Marshall Police Department Special Response Team, executed a narcotics search warrant at 329 Floyd Evans Road in Marshall. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into crack-cocaine trafficking.

James Earl Rudd, a 71-year-old Black male and the property owner, was found inside the residence and taken into custody. A search of the home, authorized by the 71st District Court, led to the discovery of crack-cocaine on the property. Rudd was charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, and booked into the Harrison County Jail.

Authorities noted Rudd has an extensive criminal record, including past convictions for drug trafficking and homicide. The Task Force is working with the Harrison County District Attorney’s Office to seek sentence enhancements due to his prior offenses. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
