25-year-old Pierson McKinnley Anthony, an escaped inmate from Marion County, Alabama, was apprehended by the Melissa Police Department on January 26, 2025, following a coordinated operation that also led to the arrest of an accomplice.
The suspect, who had been on the run for more than 600 miles from Marion County, was identified by officers using Flock camera technology in Anna, Texas, after his vehicle was spotted in the area. The vehicle was tracked to the Buc-ee’s parking lot in Melissa, where officers initiated a high-risk felony traffic stop as the vehicle exited and proceeded northbound on the frontage road.
Anthony surrendered without incident, and the driver of the vehicle, who was found to have an active felony warrant for aiding the escape, was also taken into custody.
"“This successful apprehension highlights the importance of interagency communication and the dedication of our officers to keeping Melissa safe," said Chief Erik Stokes. "This is an example of how effective FLOCK technology can be in the apprehension of wanted fugitives from across the country. The Melissa Police Department remains committed to utilizing technology and proactive policing to protect our community."
Both suspects were transported to the Collin County Jail and are awaiting extradition back to Alabama.
