Woman Sentenced to 20 Years for Assaulting Police Officer; Henderson County Grand Jury Issues Indictments

Devonne Rae Morren has been sentenced to 20 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant. The sentence was handed down by 3rd District Court Judge Mark Calhoon. Henderson County Assistant District Attorney Jeff Herrington represented the State in the case.

Additionally, District Attorney Jenny H. Palmer announced that the Henderson County Grand Jury for the January 2025 term returned multiple indictments, including 12 cases that remain under seal. The following individuals were indicted:

  • Robert Moreno, 55, Mabank – Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance
  • Nicholas Gray, 43, Houston – Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Terrie Merrifield, 58, Kemp – Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Ricky Hurt, 66, Athens – Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance
  • Sergio Rodriguez-Garcia, 32, Athens – Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance
  • Jeffrey Quinn, 41, Trinidad – Evading Arrest or Detention with a Prior Conviction and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
  • Alonzo Vasquez, 30, Athens – Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Aaron Martinez, 39, Mabank – Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child
  • Jeffrey Harrod, 38, Brownsboro – Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child

The indictments were part of the Grand Jury’s January session.
