A section of East 1st Street remains closed after a truck crashed into a power pole Tuesday night, January 28, nearly shearing it off, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
Officers responded to the crash and found the damaged pole in front of the B&A Center. To stabilize the structure, the power company used a crane to hold it in place until crews could replace it. East 1st Street is closed between the train tracks and Lee Street while repairs are underway. East 2nd Street toward Jefferson remains open unless additional closures become necessary.
The driver of the truck was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and booked into the Titus County Jail.
