On Monday, January 27, 2025, Hunt County deputies responded to reports of shots fired in Royce City. Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, 41-year-old Jesus Cruz-Monje. When deputies attempted to take him into custody, Cruz-Monje resisted arrest while armed with a gun. He was subdued by officers and arrested on-site.
