On Thursday, December 19th, Sulphur Springs Police Officer Corley initiated a traffic stop on a silver Acura near Interstate 30, mile marker 125 eastbound, for a traffic violation. During the stop, Officer Corley detected a strong odor of marijuana, prompting further investigation.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Tyler Eugene Werner, revealed that a firearm was located in the glove compartment. A background check confirmed Werner's status as a convicted felon. While being transported to the Hopkins County Jail, Werner admitted to possessing a meth pipe and a bag of methamphetamine. Upon arrival at the jail, officers retrieved a glass pipe and 1.2 grams of meth, which tested positive for methamphetamine.
