On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Hopkins County Deputies responded to a reported disturbance in the 60 block of CR 2331 in the Como area. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a female juvenile victim who reported being assaulted by Colton Franks during a verbal altercation.
The victim stated that Franks placed his hands around her neck, choking her and restricting her ability to breathe. She reported nearly losing consciousness but managed to escape by striking Franks with her elbow. Deputies observed visible marks on the victim’s neck that were consistent with her account of the incident.
Franks was located at a neighboring residence and detained. After being read his Miranda rights, Franks agreed to speak with deputies and admitted to choking the victim during the argument.
Franks was arrested and charged with Assault Family/Household Member Impede Breath/Circulation. He was transported to the Hopkins County Jail, where he remains in custody.
