A late-night incident on Saturday, December 7th, led to the arrest of Stevie Leon Mayberry in Hopkins County. Just before midnight, deputies responded to a call from Mayberry, who had previously contacted 911 claiming that someone was attempting to kill him.
Earlier that evening, deputies had visited Mayberry’s residence where he admitted to using methamphetamine two days prior. However, when they returned just before midnight, Mayberry had left his home in his vehicle.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop to check on Mayberry's well-being and, after obtaining his consent, searched the vehicle. During the search, they found a pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine and a substance that was suspected to be meth.
Mayberry was taken into custody, and his vehicle was returned to his residence. At the Hopkins County Jail, the substance was tested and weighed 0.113 grams, confirming it to be methamphetamine.
Mayberry was booked into the Hopkins County Detention Center and is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance PG 1/1-B under 1 gram. His bond has been set at $30,000.
