Mariah Lajoyce Ezell, an 18-year-old East Texas A&M University student from Mesquite, was arrested on Sunday, December 8, 2024, following a disturbance at a residence.
University police responded to the incident and determined that Ezell was the suspect in an assault against a family member. She has been charged with Continuous Violence Against the Family, with her bond set at $35,000.
In a separate incident on the same day, University police also arrested 18-year-old Ashton Desmond Vine of Dallas. Vine is accused of choking a family member and has been charged with Assault Family Member by Impeding Breath/Circulation. His bond was also set at $35,000.
It is not clear if the two arrests are related.
Ezell has a prior arrest on November 24, 2024, for Assault by Contact - Family Violence. She was released the following day after serving time and paying an undisclosed fine.
