On Friday, December 6, 2024, a Hopkins County deputy conducting routine patrol observed a vehicle towing a trailer with non-functional lights and no registration. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on Broadway Street, where the driver was identified as 41-year-old Micah Thad Cline of Emory (formerly of Fort Worth).
During the stop, both the driver and passenger displayed suspicious behavior, prompting the deputy to request permission to search the vehicle. When the request was denied, the deputy deployed a certified narcotics detection K-9, which alerted to the presence of illegal substances.
A subsequent probable cause search revealed an eyeglass case containing two glass pipes, a glass vial with methamphetamine, two plastic baggies of methamphetamine, and a tourniquet. Additionally, the female passenger, identified as Brittany Dawn Bryner, surrendered a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine that she had concealed in her pants.
Under Miranda rights, Bryner admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to both her and Cline. The methamphetamine discovered in the vehicle weighed 0.553 grams, while the baggie retrieved from Bryner weighed 12 grams.
Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Hopkins County Jail.
