On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 9:39 PM, a Paris Officer responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a Ford Escape. The driver, traveling south in the 4400 block of FM 195, struck a deer. The driver was unharmed in the incident, though the vehicle sustained minor damage.
The officer located the deer at the scene and dispatched it to prevent further suffering. This marks the sixth reported deer-related accident in Paris this year. Most of the incidents occurred on the south side of the city, particularly near South Collegiate, the SE Loop, and areas near Paris High School, as well as the SW Loop between Church Street and SW 19th Street.
Out of the six accidents, only one driver reported injury, and two required a wrecker. The department has notified the Game Warden or the Texas Department of Public Safety in certain cases.
