Mark Aiseosa Kadiri, a student at Collin College, was arrested on November 21, 2024, in connection with a financial fraud scheme that targeted elderly victims across multiple states, including Virginia. The arrest followed a comprehensive investigation by the Collin County Sheriff's Office, Collin College Police Department, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia.
Investigators discovered that Kadiri allegedly exploited vulnerable elderly individuals, leading to approximately $61,000 being illicitly deposited into his bank account. Search warrants executed during the investigation revealed substantial evidence linking Kadiri to the fraudulent activities.
Sheriff Jim Skinner emphasized the seriousness of crimes that exploit vulnerable individuals, saying, "With the rise in scams happening in Collin County and across the nation, we are committed to doing everything in our power to bring these scammers to justice."
Kadiri was taken into custody without incident while attending a class at Collin College. HIs bond has been set at $50,000 but is on hold from the other agencies involved. Authorities also executed a search warrant at Kadiri’s campus residence, where additional evidence was collected to support the case.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to identify more victims and pursue additional charges. The Collin County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information related to this case or other similar fraudulent activities to come forward by calling 972-547-5100.
