The Greenville Independent School District (GISD) has a new representative for District 1. Kadeem Johnson was unanimously appointed to the Board of Trustees at the regular meeting on Tuesday night. Johnson will serve out the remainder of the term, which expires in the spring. The District 1 seat had been vacant since longtime board member Anne Haynes resigned in August.
A 2009 alumnus of Greenville High School, Johnson represents the old west side and far northwestern part of the city. He is married to Jerrion Johnson, a first-grade teacher at Bowie Elementary School. The District 1 seat will be on the local ballot for the May 2025 election.
