Gunfire Exchange Leads to Critical Injury in Texarkana, Suspect Arrested

On November 18, 2024, officers from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots near the intersection of Vernal and Bramble Streets. Upon arrival, officers discovered several spent cartridge cases on the street and secured the area to preserve potential evidence.

A short time later, the Texarkana Texas Police Department informed officers that 26-year-old Tracy Davis had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. Davis is currently in critical condition, and investigators believe his injury is linked to the gunfire incident.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division soon arrived on scene and learned that the suspects involved had arrived at the location and opened fire on a residence on Vernal Street. During the exchange, Davis was accidentally struck in the head by one of his accomplices. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene, transporting Davis to seek medical help.

Through their investigation, detectives identified 21-year-old Timothy Demery as the driver of the suspect vehicle. Demery was arrested and charged with 66 counts of Terroristic Act, Tampering with Evidence, and Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle. No additional suspects have been named, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Sergeant Easley of the TAPD Criminal Investigation Division at 903-798-3154.
