Nathan Paul Hart, 36, of Leesburg, Texas, has been sentenced to 230 months in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms offenses, according to U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs.
Hart pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. On November 14, 2024, U.S. District Judge Robert W. Schroeder III sentenced Hart to 170 months for the drug-related offense and 60 months for the firearms violation, with the terms to be served consecutively. Hart was also ordered to forfeit $250,000.
Court records revealed that between August 2019 and August 2021, Hart conspired with others to distribute over 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine in East Texas. During a traffic stop on November 30, 2020, authorities found approximately 2 kilograms of methamphetamine and a pistol in Hart's possession. Hart also admitted to mailing over $22,000 to California to purchase additional drugs.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Jackson.
