On Thursday morning, November 14, 2024, Titus County deputies and Bogata Police officers, along with multiple other agencies, conducted a manhunt for 30-year-old Jamarcus Marcell Hayes, a Black man who had fled a traffic stop. The search extended into the northern part of Titus County near Talco, and authorities requested that anyone who spotted Hayes contact the Titus County Sheriff’s Office.
Hayes was initially seen late Wednesday night by the Rivercrest bridges off US-271 in Bogata, TX. In response to the search, Bogata Police added security at Rivercrest Elementary and High School to ensure the safety of students and staff. At around 1:00 p.m., Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) tracking dogs located Hayes at a residence in Talco, where he was arrested without further incident.
Hayes was taken to the Red River County Jail and faces charges including Assaulting a Public Servant, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Evading Arrest or Detention. His bond has been set at $20,000.
