Three people were injured in a head-on collision on Monday afternoon, November 11, near Leonard. The accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on an "S" curve in the 1200 block of FM 272, just east of the city. The impact was severe, trapping victims inside their badly damaged vehicles.
Responders from EMS, Leonard Fire, Trenton Fire, Leonard PD, and the Fannin County Sheriff's Office rushed to the scene. Due to the severity of the injuries, medical helicopters from Ardmore, Greenville, and Paris were called in. One person sustained life-threatening injuries.
The Leonard Volunteer Fire Department thanked several Air Evac Lifeteam units for their assistance in transporting the victims to medical facilities. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
